03 — The Noble Standard

Proof, not proclamation

A transparent, evidence-led pathway that protects provenance, strengthens trust and gives African excellence a language the world can recognise.

Why the Standard exists

Excellence that can be verified

Anyone can call a product luxury. Buyers, partners and investors need a way to tell.

The Noble Standard sets out published criteria, asks for evidence against each one, and has that evidence verified before any certification decision. Certification is renewed, so the mark keeps its meaning over time.

What it measures

The criteria families

Six families of criteria. Each is assessed against documented evidence, never against claims.

Quality

Craft & Quality

Materials, technique, finishing and consistency across production.

Authenticity

Provenance

Traceable origin of materials, makers and place, documented end to end.

Ownership

Intellectual Property

Protection of designs, marks and cultural knowledge, with fair attribution.

Culture

Cultural Integrity

Respectful use of cultural codes and benefit to the communities they come from.

Enterprise

Business Practice

Governance, fair labour and the capacity to deliver at the standard promised.

Experience

Client Experience

Service, presentation and after-care worthy of a luxury promise.

How assessment works

Five steps, in the open

Every applicant follows the same path. Each step has a published purpose and a record that can be checked.

  1. CriteriaPublished, so every applicant knows the bar before they apply.
  2. EvidenceThe applicant documents how they meet each criterion.
  3. VerificationEvidence is reviewed by an independent or institutionally credible verifier.
  4. CertificationA recorded decision, the Noble Standard mark and a digital certificate.
  5. RenewalPeriodic re-assessment keeps the certification current.

Governance & verification

Who decides, and how

The Standard separates the people who advise from the people who verify and decide. Every decision is recorded against the criteria, with reasons.

Criteria
Approved and published by the standards council.
Verification
Independent or institutionally credible verifiers, appointed in writing.
Decision
Recorded against the criteria, with reasons.
Digital proof
Each certified brand receives a verifiable digital certificate.
Renewal
Certification lapses unless renewed on schedule.

Certification

A mark that can be checked

Certified brands carry the Noble Standard mark and receive a digital certificate that buyers, partners and investors can verify. Certification is renewed, so the mark stays current.
